2013 added a lot of stuff back and generally improved on 2012. 2012 was a rewrite of the whole IDE so some functionality was lost, but man did it become pleasant to use. And as I've learned more about the features available in VS, my productivity has continued to increase.

I switched something like a year ago and I could never go back. Now that Visual Studio Tools for Unity is free and VS Community edition is free, there's no risk to trying it out. Then again, in those cases, maybe programming isn't for you either. If you don't make an effort to fully understand how things work, VS isn't for you. If you aren't willing to regularly sit down and learn something new about your IDE, VS isn't for you. It's going to take intentional effort to learn how to use it to it's fullest potential. It's very easy to find information and solutions to problems on the internet. And it's generally better supported by the community it seems. It has tons of extensions available to do just about anything you want. Opening files/projects/solutions is faster. Find references is an order of magnitude faster. Idk if MD supports them, but Tracepoints have been a fantastic tool.

VS has an astoundingly large feature set. And I'm still constantly discovering new, useful features. Better themes, better code snippets, can create class diagrams, insanely customizable. I had characters in comments disappearing, couldn't close tabs, auto-complete completely failed, and so many others I don't even remember now. Ultimately, it comes down to what you are comfortable with. I'm hesitant to say it's objectively better, but I certainly think very strong arguments can be made for that.
